Football season is almost here, and most of you probably already know that I’m a huge LSU football fan, and I try not to miss watching a game. But I also love to watch movies about football and one of my favorite football movies is Rudy.
If you’ve never seen it, then you should definitely try and check it out. It’s based on the real life story of Daniel “Rudy Ruettiger. He had a dream to play football at the University of Notre Dame, and in spite of having significant challenges and numerous obstacles to overcome, he did finally get to play for the Fighting Irish.
One of the reasons that I think that it’s such a great movie is because we can all see different parts of our own story in Rudy. His story is a lot like most of ours. Along the way on everyone’s journey, we are all going to experience our share of obstacles and challenges that we will need to overcome. And when those challenges and obstacles arise, you are going to need something to help pull you through all the tough and difficult times.
That’s why I believe so strongly in the power of setting goals and think that it is absolutely crucial to your success. Goals allow you to begin with the end in mind and they allow you to know exactly what you’re working towards. Rudy knew he wanted to play ball for Notre Dame and he was completely focused on achieving that goal When you set a goal, it actually helps you to maintain “tunnel vision” on the final outcome so that you're not consumed by what is happening in the moment.
I talk a lot about goal setting in my new book, It All Matters, because I firmly believe in the power of setting goals. You have to know where you’re headed in life, because when you don’t, you will likely find that you’re just completely lost. And let's be honest, we can all get “lost” along the journey at times, and when we do, we need someone to help us find our way back.
I’ve had a lifetime of experiences that I’ve learned from along the way on my personal journey through life, and there’s one thing that I know for sure…
So let me ask you a question. Do you know where your next finish line is? Have you set some goals for yourself that you’re currently working towards? If the answer is yes, then you’re on the right track to win the race.
But what if you’re struggling right now and you can’t see the finish line?
What if you’re thinking to yourself, “I don’t even know if I’m even running the right race.”
If that’s you, then I believe that my new book, It All Matters can actually help you make it to the finish line. Remember, you’re not in this alone. In fact, I want to give you the opportunity to receive a copy of my book for free, along with a ton of other physical and digital products.
